The Red Door: Where It All Began at Mech Tech Professionals
If you’ve ever had a scroll through our Google page, you might have noticed an old photo of a bright red door. It’s not just a random snapshot from the archives, that door is a big part of our story.
Over 10 years ago, that red door was the very first entrance to Mech Tech Professionals. No shiny signage, no modern glass frontage, no fancy reception desk. Just a cold, stubborn door and a whole lot of ambition behind it.
And yes… it was painted by our very own Managing Director, Jonathan Hann.
Three Days, Freezing Cold, One Red Door,
The legend goes that Jonathan painted that door over three days in absolutely freezing weather. No contractors. No shortcuts. Just gloves, paint, and a vision. It was very much an all hands on deck moment, because back then, that’s how everything worked at Mech Tech.
Everyone did a bit of everything:
- Directors painting doors
- The team setting up desks and phones
- Putting our experience into action and building the business the right way from day one
It wasn’t glamorous, but it was real.

That red door quickly became a symbol of what Mech Tech stood for:

From day one, Mech Tech has always been about recruitment with purpose, connecting people, building careers, and helping businesses grow.

Today, we’ve moved into a much bigger, modern building. The red door is long gone, and the kettle is no longer balanced on a filing cabinet. But what hasn’t changed is the mindset that started behind it.
Our mission still reflects where we came from:
- Engineering Futures – supporting candidates to build long-term careers, not just find jobs.
- Constructing Partnerships – working closely with clients as true partners, not just suppliers.
- More Than Just Recruiters – because we care about people, culture, and getting it right.
Same Values, Bigger Vision
Even as we’ve grown, the principles remain exactly the same:
- We still believe in rolling up our sleeves.
- We still believe in doing things the right way, not the easy way.
- And we’re still committed to the vision that started with a single red door and a lot of cold paint.
So while that door might no longer exist in real life, it lives on in the way we work every day, a reminder that Mech Tech Professionals was built on effort, teamwork, and genuine relationships.
Because at Mech Tech, it was never just about the door.
It was about the future we were building behind it.
